The panel over the porch records 'Rebuilt 1890". There are many classic features such as a fine raised glazed conservatory over the entrance porch, an octagonal turret with conical roof, a rich variety of fenestration, mullioned windows and dripstones. There has been an important house on the site of Pen Moel for hundreds of years with the current house dating back to 1890 which was built by Margaret Phillips Price whose family had moved down from Manchester in the middle of the 19th Century. Pen Moel has been in the same family for three generations. The grounds run down to the river with some high paths offering stunning views.
